Prancing Horse

The festive season at Prancing Horse Estate will see this biodynamic pioneer of the Mornington Peninsula welcome guests into the cellar door with a tasting experience that is unparalleled across the region.

On Saturdays, flights of locally-made Red Hill South wine will take centre-stage while on Sunday; top quality French wines will be tasted along with local wines and a selection of international cheeses and bread. On Saturday, Cellar Door Manager Denise Dwyer explores the Prancing Horse style and terroir with a vineyard ramble and discussion on rootstock, clones, soil and trellis. Back in the cellar door, while enjoying stunning views across Western Port, a $10 tutored tasting includes three backvintage wines from both the Pony and Estate range alongside the current release wines to contrast the evolving style. On Sunday, the cellar door turns into an International biodynamic wine centre. For $35 Prancing Horse Estate wines are available alongside some great Burgundy and Chablis wines made by Pascal Marchand and Patrick Piuze under the Prancing Horse label. The comparison of a flinty and austere Les Rosiers Chablis or an intensely floral Meursault Blagny next to a spicy and fruity Prancing Horse Estate Chardonnay enjoyed with a cheese platter, bread and olive oil is great value at $35 per head.

Denise Dwyer is a French wine expert and her knowledge will make this day totally memorable. Her insights will allow guests not only a better understanding of the wines’ terroir but also the important consideration of food and wine pairing. This heady experience is not just a must for any cool climate wine enthusiast, but a must for all wine lovers. Saturday: Prancing Horse Local Wines Made Naturally.
